Coronado Longboard Surf Club History

Page   1 2

Although the Coronado Longboard Surf Club is newly formed, Coronado surfing has a rich and varied history. Started by a group of surfers who grew up surfing together in the early 60’s we have unofficially been a "club" for decades. For close to 20 years we’ve put on one of the longest running longboard surf contests the "J.R. Classic" a tribute to Jimmy Reilly a close friend and fellow surfer who died tragically in a car accident in the early 80’s.

Now with most of our kids surfing and the emergence of a lot of stoked newcomers we thought it an opportune time to start a club and not only have lots of fun together but to also have a larger voice in local beach and environmental issues and to be a part of the larger Coalition of Surf Clubs.
The "History" and stoke continues.....
